Good Gut Health 

The Basics

The interaction between the good bacteria and the brain are now well studied and known probably most and out 4 boxes to tick and this is one that has been around longer and most people will have heard about 

​

There are both physical and chemical interactions that dictate this interaction and it has been heavily linked to mental health in 2 ways and its undeniable that improving our gut in a few ways is a game-changer for the brain

​

These 2 main gut/brain interactions are: 

​

The living good bacteria in your gut make chemicals and hormones that promote good brain health

and

A gut damaged by diet leads to food microbes passing through the gut lining into the blood causing inflammation which is one of the things we want to keep low 

​

So with only these 2 in mind and focusing purely on brain nutrition a good target is to consistently eat high amounts of different types of specialist foods that promote good gut health while also eating decent amounts of different fruit and veg that are beneficial to gut to improve gut bacteria variety

​

Removal of foods that promote bad bacteria balance is also as crucial or even more so than eating the good stuff

​

To fix the problem of toxins getting into the blood from the gut you need to remove foods that cause this reaction completely with a strict diet short term and then slowly reintroduce some foods in small amounts while removing others completely 

​

There are also foods you can eat to speed up the healing process of the gut which will be highlighted

​

Many of the foods recommended for removal in these cases cross over into the removal of trigger foods section on this site and many are the usual main culprits that we consume on mass but in this section we will also concentrate on removing specific foods known to wreak havoc on our gut and mental health

So repairing the gut is the foundation alongside including gut friendly foods in our diet and removing foods that are bad

​
